HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Well, I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas it was so good to talk to all of you and to hear your voices. It feels like the time has gone by fast but I haven't been with my family for an eternity. But we had a really good day. Sister Maxwell made us an amazing Christmas dinner and then the phone call of course was the highlight of Christmas. Thank you all for everything that you sent for Christmas and constantly do for me. I feel your love and prayers and know that I pray for you all a hundred times a day. As much as I hate to say it though, It does feel good to get Christmas over with and know by next Christmas I will only have 6 months left so it won't be near as bad. It was a couple of hard days but know I am ready to have an awesome year.
Well, its 2009 tomorrow crazy, crazy. My black hole. The year to year when I won't see home. I will miss the Little New Year coming though! I wish I was there to put something in your shoe mom! Well, I hope you all are brave souls and stay up until midnight tonight. I will get up and drink a glass of sparkling grape juice at 7:00 in the morning tomorrow so we will be doing it at the same time. Mom and Dad, you better keep up the tradition!I can't Believe we are having two new babies, holy cow Lindsay and Jamie. I have been praying for Lindsay but Jamie was a shocker. bringing the grand total to 14 that is a lot of little kids. But congratulations, I am so excited for you both I will have two new babies to love by the time I get back. 1 Year old is about my favorite time with kids to so that will be perfect I love that age.
Well, we aren't doing anything too terribly exciting today. We might go over the Eagleshams tonight, the Scottish senior couple, and just play some games with them because we have to be in by 5:00 tonight for New Years so that should be pretty fun, they are hilarious and are fun to be around. She is a really good cook as well.
Well yesterday I was in Londonderry on exchanges with Elder Thiriot the District Leader. Both of us were sick so we had a couple of appointments but then pretty much slept the rest of the day. Just the flu that is going around. I haven't thrown up but I have a wicked sore throat and cough, and I just feel weak. I feel a little better today but still just feel kind of crummy. Hopefully by tomorrow I will be ready to go again. That was the first day I had stayed in in 5 1/2 months so I guess you need it sometimes. But we rode the train back this morning and did our shopping already.
One exciting thing that happened this week is we got two of our investigators to church Helen and Douggy. Helen is the lady that has had such a hard life living with alcholics and being abused and stuff. So that was a big step for them and they seemed like they enjoyed it so hopefully we can keep them coming. Also, we went over Monday night and got her to tear up a pack of Cigarettes into the trash can and started her on the stop smoking program, so we are making progress with them. Douggy doesn't smoke or drink so that is good, and he said that he would give up coffee and tea if she quit smoking so that will be awesome for both of them.
Well, it has been a pretty slow week with the Holidays nobody wants us to come over and this week has been bad as well, so we haven't had very many lessons, so we've been doing a lot of tracting in the cold. Sunday we tracted for about 7 hours straight and we were so cold and tired and we got done and were heading home about 8:20 we had a couple miles still to walk home and the Senior couple pulled up behind us and gave us a lift home. I was so grateful and happy to see them we were so exhausted. A tender Mercy, Heavenly Father looks after us every minute of every day.
Well thank you for the letters this week Mom and Dad and Aunt Marsha. And for the emails: Dad, Jamie, Aunts Lucille, Pam, Oona and Kathy. Sister Bigler and Tommy. Thanks, it was nice to have some emails to read today.
I hope this New Year brings each of us a new drive to be better and to be better disciples of Christ. "Examples of the Believers" This is going to be a great new year, and it can be the best year of our lives for each of us if we choose to make it that.
I Love you all and I am so grateful to have you all in my life.
Love Elder Hancock
