Just Another Manic Monday

Well hello family far, far away. I hope things are well. It has been another good week here in the "Emeral Isle". Tomorrow is Zone Conference, so we have Pday today. But I am excited to see a couple of my friends from the MTC there. So, we will go there tonight for a fireside and some activities and then come back to our flat. Then tomorrow we will go back for Zone Conference. So, the district leaders will be staying at our flat tonight and tomorrow night. We are going on exchanges tomorrow. I will go with our district leader Elder Lance who is a cool guy from California.

Well, it has been kind of a boring week this week just same old same nothing too exciting. Yesterday at church a lady came to church said that she just moved into the area and our church was the closest to her house, so she decided to try it. She is really nice, and we are going to teach her this week. Her name is Paula.
Well yesterday we went and saw this guy named Jack Cantwell and he is probably about 28 and he is Irish. He was baptized about 7 or 8 years ago and came for about a year and then fell away. So, we are working with him he started smoking and drinking again but says "It's just something I do I could stop any time" whatever, but anyways he was raised by two nuns so they give him a lot of snuff about the church and so he is confused about which one is true. He can't get over the trinity thing and a few other things like that. He tells us he's not happy and we tell him the way that he can be happy, and he knows because he's felt it before but it's just easier for him to live the way he is living so he doesn't want to change again. Sometimes it's hard not to get frustrated with people who you know could just be better but won't but we are working with him every week and hopefully we can help him.
I think sometimes as missionaries we think our only purpose is to teach, convert, and baptize. But I believe that sometimes we are here to do other things. Like the other day we were tracting and this older lady probably 70 answered her door and the first thing she said was "I'm not changin my religion for yous." (in her thick Irish accent) and so we continued to talk to her about just life trying to work the gospel into some of the things we talked about and at first, she was really grumpy and wouldn't say anything but by the time we got done she was really happy and was talking freely to us. You could see her whole countenance change. When we left, she wouldn't really let us talk about our religion(catholic) but she said, "thank you so much for stopping." I think Heavenly Father put us on that street that day so that we could cheer up one of his daughters and ease her burden. Other time we met this Brazilian guy on the street it was his second day in Ireland, and he couldn't find the place where he was staying. So, we ended up walking him to his door because he couldn't understand the directions we were giving him. But just things like that where we are there for his purposes to help lift the burdens of some of his children. It really makes me realize the love our father in heaven has for us and how much he cares about each individual one.
Well, I hope Tyrees Baptism was awesome I want to hear all about it and get pictures. I love to hear about the grandkids stuff like Stetson peeing wherever he wants, that's funny crap right there I don't care who you are!
Well thanks this week to Jamie, Mom and Dad, Jeanette and the kids, Aunt Carla, Ashley C. and Tycee for the letters. Also, Jamie, Tommy and Aunt Oona, and Aunt Marsha for the emails they really bring me up.  Well, somebody asked me if I have ridden a train and a bus. Well I have ridden a train once but will ride it again today to Zone conference. I ride a bus one or two times a week - the huge double decker ones - but it's cool to ride in the top you can see a lot more.
Well Happy Birthday to Uncle Keith tomorrow and Jenny G. on Thursday.
I love and miss you all and I wish I was there to enjoy the vegetables. I miss cucumbers and tomatoes. But the fruit is really good here so I have been eating a lot of apples and peaches. Well congratulations to Jamie on getting the house, hopefully everything goes through. I'm sure you will be busy so good luck I wish I could be there to help.
I LOVE YOU,
ESPECIALLY YOU MOM,
Elder Hancock
